Dead Burnt Magnesite is a product of magnesite refinement that occurs in the rotary kiln/shaft kiln. It is chemically inactive and formed at a high temperature of 1750 degrees Celsius. Dead Burnt Magnesite (DBM) is created in a by sintering raw magnesite at a controlled high temperature. It has excellent resistance to heat and is chemically inert. This substance is frequently employed in the fabrication of essential refractories.

The refractory industry uses these basic refractories for different lining purposes in electric arc furnaces and kilns. Basic refractory bricks are used to make ramming mass composition, fettling material, and magnesite mortar. This is also a coating material for steel splashing in arc furnaces.
